What is a Measured Building Survey?

A measured building survey is a detailed drawn-up plan (typically comprising elevations, floorplans and cross sections) presenting all of the visible components of a property, both its interior and exterior features. A measured building survey gives architects, building contractors and structural engineers the information that they need in order to develop a scheme where alteration of the existing building, such as a building extension, can commence.

A section can be across any plane however a typical section of a building would show all the levels of the floors and ceilings plus any other structural or internal features of the property.

What is an Elevation?

An elevation is a two dimensional perspective showing the side of a building or structure. An elevation can be either internal or external and includes all vertical dimensions and visualises the position of doors, windows, fittings and documents wall finishes.
